Sloothaak Property

TREES PLANTED

Hello Colleen, I’ve attached some ‘photos of work in progress, a family effort’. JS”

Thanks must go to four of our Ballarat City Councillors who have carbon offset their cars with Fifteen trees. Through their support, 60 new native trees have been planted at the Sloothaak Property (west of Ballarat). Cr Samantha McIntosh, Cr Craig Fletcher, Cr Des Hudson and Cr Ben Taylor have all contributed privately to this project.

Their leadership is to be commended. Sixty trees (that otherwise would not have been planted) will provide native animals with habitat, prevent soil degradation  and over their lifetime will collectively absorb  up to 17000kg of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. To date, 60 cars have been carbon offset in 6 short months. We hope to have 100 cars offset by the end of the year … stay tuned –  Colleen.

400 TREES PLANTED

David Cook-Doulton and Martin Shew always thought regional towns of Ballarat and Bendigo had a world-class feel. They could see it in the wide streets, the grand buildings and beautiful botanical gardens. And so two world-class hotels were created – Hotel Vera (Ballarat) and Hotel Ernest (Bendigo). Both hotels link luxury with environmental awareness as part of ‘true luxury, founded upon environmental integrity’.
