Scientific Turf Solutions. Appreciating the importance of trees.

Given how much Scientific Turf Solutions are out in nature, the team appreciate how important native vegetation and trees are key to a vibrant, healthy ecosystem.

TREES PLANTED

105

Thanks to the commitment of turf specialists, Scientific Turf Solutions sixty (60) new native trees have been planted in Queensland to encourage and entice wildlife preservation. John Hines and the team have been providing solutions to big and small-scale turf for all sectors. Their goal is to support and give product education to their customers. Spaces they enhance include sports fields, golf courses, school grounds, etc.

The trees sponsored by the team at Scientific Turf Solutions were planted along Thistle Road, Maadi, in Tropical QLD (Djiru Country) by local community group Brettacorp Inc. Some of the species planted included, Alexander Palm, Blue Quandong, Queensland Maple, Blue Ginger, Dianella, Black Bean, Cordyline, Flame Tree, Figs, Glochidon, Ulysses Butterfly Tree, Umbrella Tree and Acacia.

Over time, these trees will provide a food source for local wildlife species, especially the Southern Cassowary (endangered). The trees will also improve the waterways dramatically and lead to longer water retention across the seasons as well as providing homes for frogs and other small aquatic insects. This reforestation project will extend and connect native remnant forest and fully rejuvenate the site with native flora.

Some of the native animals that will benefit from this project include; Southern Cassowary, Broad-shouldered Dove, Emerald Dove, Imperial Pigeon, Bee Eaters, Currajongs, Sun Birds, Scrub Fowls, Eagles, Kites, Hawks, Bats, Green Frog species, and native mice and small marsupials. This area is also home to the Ulysses Butterfly, and the Cairns Birdwing Butterfly. This area is an absolute paradise.

A huge thank you to sponsors of Fifteen Trees for helping us create new habitat that supports endangered species in the Cassowary Coast region of Tropical North Queensland. With your help we are making homes and providing food for our native fauna. Thank you.

Last year, Scientific Turf Solutions purchased 45 trees for the Northern Grampians in Western Vicotoria. You can read about those trees here.

We truly appreciate all the businesses and supporters for helping us make the planet greener.

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. 5,040 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
