We often refer to trees as the lungs of the planet, as they act as air purifiers assisting the planet breathe by turning carbon dioxide into clean, pure oxygen. Trees and forests around the world also act like the planet’s air conditioning system and keep the planet cool. They help slow down global warming. Which is why Smarter Air signed up with us this year to plant 222 native trees in the Daintree Rainforest, Queensland.

Since 2019, Smarter Air have been cooling properties in the Brisbane and Gold Coast area, which is a must in the Queensland cities. Run by mates Phill and Davis (with 2 decades of industry experience between them) the boys wanted to make an impact, so they contacted us with a pledge to plant one tree for every installation.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a soft spot for the wildlife and plant life of the Australia, especially reptiles. Having two children of my own, I know how important it is to set a good example, and it makes me proud to see that my son, Rocco, at the tender age of seven, is also developing his own passion for the environment & animals, he asked Santa for a pet black-headed python this year!

For those who have been lucky enough to visit the Daintree Rainforest, we know what a special place it is. Dated as over 135 million years old, making it the oldest rainforest in the world, it is something well worth preserving.

But what you might not know is that it is one of the most diverse rainforests in the world. A massive percentage of Australia’s entire animal population calls it home, including 30% of our frog population, 65% of butterfly and bats species, and an incredible 12,000 different types of insects.

This diverse wonderful place must be protected on those facts alone.

The 222 trees were planted by Daintree Life, a small conservation group situated in the Daintree Forest of far north Queensland. They have been planting trees in the Daintree since 2018. They firmly believe in restoring and expanding natural habitat for wildlife. Founders, Connie and Mike Pinson, work closely with Queensland Parks and Wildlife, removing rank grasses and weeds in the National Park to restore food resources and ecological function. Funding from Smarter Air has enabled them to continue with their revegetation work.
