TREES PLANTED
Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013. By the end of this year, Ross and the team at GJG will have helped plant over 56,000 trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year alone, the relationship between G.J. Gardner Homes and Fifteen Trees, will see over 11,000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups.
The partnership with Fifteen Trees, allows G.J. Gardner teams to go into the field for some team building activities as well as giving some support to the local community.

In June, a tree planting day was undertaken by the Dodges Ferry Primary School in a wetland area. The area which was previously a carpark, had been reconstructed to become a wetland once more. The landscaped area will provide a runoff area which, when it rains will channel the water back into the adjacent beach. The channel has been planted with native wetland species to help filter and clean the runoff water before it joins the ocean. This program was conducted by many volunteers, the school’s ‘Grow and Learn’ program and Landcare, as well as the plants donated by G.J. Gardner. The G.J. Gardner people who attended were, Nathan Trost, Adele Harrison and Meg Gray. We also planted G. J. Gardner trees at the Okines Community Garden on National Tree Planting Day (July 25th). We wanted to create a new ‘cubby’ space for kids to play in by using native vegetation to create rooms and little nooks for children to play. We also focussed on native plants endemic to the Dodges Ferry area and worked with those. A local Tasman Peninsula Homeschooling group was invited to join in the planting.
