JEI Studio. Protecting Native Wildlife

‘We believe that supporting community tree-planting initiatives is not only an investment in nature; it’s a commitment to a sustainable future. JEI Studio is committed to ongoing donations of 15 planted trees for every design and decoration service agreement’. Jessi Deakin.

TREES PLANTED

150

Award winning business JEI Studio has answered the call to protect our native wildlife by getting behind Fifteen Trees and contributing to our restoration projects by purchasing 15 native trees for every new service agreement.

We believe that supporting community tree-planting initiatives is not only an investment in nature; it’s a commitment to a sustainable future. Trees are the silent architects of a healthier planet, providing clean air, a habitat for diverse ecosystems, and a source of inspiration. By fostering community tree planting, we cultivate a legacy of ecological responsibility, ensuring that the beauty and benefits of trees endure for generations to come. JEI Studio is committed to ongoing donations of 15 planted trees for every design and decoration service agreement.

Bellingen Island, NSW | 45 trees | 2026

The trees were at Bellingen Island, NSW (Gumbaynggirr Country) by Bellinger Landcare members over the course of a few weeks. The flying fox population at Bellingen Island is a nationally recognised site. It is mostly occupied by Grey headed Flying Foxes (nationally threatened), while Black Flying Foxes and Little Red Flying foxes have also been recorded at the camp. The area is also home to Koalas, Quolls, Greater Gliders, and Glossy Black Cockatoos.

This particular site was selected to provide multiple benefits, such as:

  • increase forage and roost sites for Grey Headed Flying Foxes,
  • Improve health of the site,
  • reduce erosion and
  • improve connectivity between fragmented flora reserves.

The dominant vegetation immediately around planting sites is Lowland Subtropical Rainforest and Wet Sclerophyll Forest, but much of this has been cleared for farmland in the past.

These trees will improve the availability of winter forage for Grey Headed Flying Foxes. These flying foxes are a keystone species in the Australian landscape and provide critical pollination and seed dispersal services. Although they have a varied diet, the availability of nectar in late winter and early spring restricts population growth. By improving the availability of this forage, Bellinger Landcare Group are helping to ease that stress on the flying foxes. The trees will also provide multispecies benefit to other mammals, birds and insects of the area, and help with erosion control and flood mitigation.

Thank you to the generous sponsors of these trees. By sponsoring this project, you have helped Bellinger Landcare’s efforts to provide increased forage for our beloved local flying fox populations.

Bombay, NSW | 45 trees | 2024

The trees were planted in the the upper Shoalhaven River catchment district, 14km to the southwest of Braidwood on the traditional lands of the Ngarigo and Yuin nations. Conservation reserves in the area include Tallaganda National Park and Tallaganda Conservation Area. Most of the district was historically cleared and is still used for pastoral activities.

Dry Sclerophyll Forest of Bombay, NSW.

This region is predominately made up of vegetation associated with Dry Sclerophyll Forests.  The Eucalyptus tree canopy is sparse to mid-dense and consists predominately of Broad Leaved Peppermint, Red Spotted Gum and Scribbly Gum. The occasional Black Sheoak forms part of a sparse small tree layer. The Bombay region is also home to the critically endangered Bombay Bossiaea, a wiry shrub, with pea shaped yellow flowers growing in the steep valley of the Shoalhaven River.

We are absolutely delighted to benefit from your wonderful generosity.  The local land owners who form the Bombay Landcare Group take great pride in their efforts to put back into the local environment. We have used your donation to purchase ‘fit for purpose’ local species to regenerate the land. From the prevention of erosion to building wildlife corridors, the regeneration effort of our group will no doubt have a positive and lasting impact on the region.

Some of the species of trees planted at the site included; Wattles (Snowy River, Silver, Green and Blackwood), Hakeas, She-Oaks and Gums (Black, Red Spotted, Yellow Box, Black Sally and Ribbon), Bottlebrushes (Riber, Scarlet, Lemon and Crimson) and Tea trees.

Westgate Park, VIC | 60 trees | 2023

We planted Jessi’s trees at West Gate Park in Melbourne’s inner west. Fifteen Trees has been working with Westgate Biodiversity for the past 8 years and have watched the park expand and grow. This has been due to the team of amazing volunteers, some of whom have been attending weekly park activities for well over a decade.

A variety of species is vital to a healthy ecosystem.

The trees were a mixture of natives, all indigenous to the district. In fact, the seeds collected to propagate plants have been gathered within a 20 km radius of the park. They are grown by a host of volunteers from Westgate Biodiversity and delivered to the park for planting.
