Garibaldi Tree Planting Day, Vic.

TREES PLANTED

When you carbon offset your car or flight with Fifteen Trees, you get to see exactly where your trees have been planted and you directly support our rural environment and communities.

“Hi Colleen, Just to give you some background. The Garibaldi Hall is a community meeting place 30 km south of Ballarat that started life as the Garibaldi School soon after the gold rush of the1850s. Adjoining the Hall is a paddock with an old mullock heap and a swampy area. The vision for this block is to plant it with hundreds of exotic trees and shrubs to create a garden and wetland area that can be enjoyed for decades to come. Fifteen Trees has helped the Garibaldi Hall Committee to take the first significant steps towards this long-term plan and future generations will look back at our efforts with approval”.  Jill Ebbs (Garibaldi Committee Member).

Maree and Brian Harrison of Harrison Funerals have been on-going supporters of the Garibaldi Hall and have this year, donated another 20 mature trees to the site. In deciding to support Fifteen Trees, Maree and Brian are also supporting community groups such as Garibaldi, who are relying on volunteers to restore the old school and surrounds. Once established the trees will then produce their own seedlings and encourage an ecosystem of native flowers, shrubs, birds, reptiles, insects and mammals.

Thank you to Maree and Brian and well done to the Garibaldi Committee who have taken on the responsibility of restoring the historical site.

Cheers – Colleen

The number of trees planted with the assistance of Fifteen Trees supporters – 5295.
