Planting trees for Yogaville.

TREES PLANTED

Each asana (yoga posture) has a beautiful shape,

grace and elegance that bestows power

and makes the practitioner as strong as a diamond

and at the same time as soft as a flower’ – BKS Iyengar

yogavillelotuslogocrop Bronwyn Rust, owner and founder of Yogaville contacted Fifteen Trees looking for a way to reduce the carbon footprint of her yoga studio in Preston, Vic. Bronwyn wanted 15 trees planted for every year the studio had been up and running and another 15 for her car. Ninety trees all up! Bronwyn’s trees went out to Flowerdale up in the Murrindindi Shire of central Victoria. This district was ravaged by the Black Saturday fires 6 years ago. The landcare groups are still working hard to re-vegetate and restore. Bronwyn’s 90 trees were very much appreciated and were part of a larger planting of 500 trees at the Wheeler property. Steve Joplin, President of Flowerdale Landcare wrote … ‘Brave souls from the Flowerdale Landcare Group, took to the banks of the beautiful King Parrot Creek, a gem of a waterway at the south western end of the Shire, on National Tree Day. The objective was to plant 500 trees on the property of Gary and Jill Wheeler, home of R.A.W. Plants, one of two indigenous plant nurseries in Flowerdale. Twenty one well rugged people took to the task in the 11 degree warmth and within an hour could say ‘job done’. Thank you Yogaville for your most generous contribution.” Talking about trees and yoga, on National Tree Day we celebrated at Fifteen Trees by going out to a park to stand quietly in Tree Pose (Vriksasana). 1100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.

For hotels, embracing sustainability can strengthen brand loyalty, enhance their reputation, and help differentiate them in a competitive market. In this way, sustainable initiatives are not just good for the planet – they also make strong business sense, creating a win-win for hotels, their guests, and the communities and ecosystems they support.

300 TREES PLANTED

April 29, 2026
There’s something quietly powerful about a person who decides, on their own, to do something good for the planet. No fanfare, no corporate mandate – just a simple choice to put a few trees in the ground. When hundreds of individuals make that same choice, something remarkable happens. Native forests are restored, wildlife corridors are rebuilt, and community groups across Australia get to do the work they love. So if you’ve ever purchased trees through Fifteen Trees, thank you.
