National Tree Day and Yogaville.

TREES PLANTED

Bronwyn Rust is the owner and founder of Yogaville, a beautiful Iyengar yoga studio located in Preston Vic. This year I once again planted 90 trees on her behalf to reduce the carbon footprint of the yoga studio. Bronwyn’s trees went to the beautiful district of Baw Baw, just north of Melbourne, Victoria.   yogavillelotuslogocrop   Karla Rutherford, environmental office with the Shire, along with a host of volunteers, planted Bronwyn’s trees (90) at Brooker Park. Scroll to the bottom to find the link to a great video from the day.
Hello Colleen, Please find attached a photo of Baw Baw Shire’s National Tree Day event at Brooker Park, Warragul on Sunday 30th July. Funds from Fifteen Trees were used to continue restoration works along Hazel Creek. In total 1030 plants were installed by community volunteers, 300 of which were supplied by supporters of Fifteen Trees. A combination of trees, shrubs and grasses were installed to replicate the vegetation type that previously occurred at the site. A total of 53 volunteers participated on the day, making a significant contribution to improving the local environment. Massive thank you to Yogaville and your support of Fifteen Trees, and in turn … us! Karla Rutherford | Environmental Officer | Baw Baw Shire

Quality People and Training Solutions (QPTS) are always looking for ways in which they can care for people. As well as ways to care for the planet.

2100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in. (Feature image from Mt Worth Landcare).

Individual actions really do matter! Individually we can really only make small differences to the world around us, but collectively our numbers add up. And if enough individuals are involved then forests can be grown!
