Sam and Ned helping to plant 60 native trees.

Over the course of the year I find myself giving gifts of trees in appreciation of people’s support. In 2011, I gave trees to two landowners in central Victoria. Sixty trees went to Charley from Metcalf and another sixty went to Nicole (her 2 boys are pictured) from the Bendigo region. Those who had trees planted  on their behalf included: Asha from Angus & Celeste (15 trees), Natasha Palmer from Phoenix Racer (15 trees), the women who attended the Women’s Network Australia Green Luncheon (40 trees) in June and those who voted for Fifteen Trees as part of ‘Best Australian Blogs’ an initiative of the Sydney Writer’s Centre, back earlier in the year. I planted one tree per vote which equalled 50 trees. However,  I’m not sure if bribery was actually encouraged in the competition – probably not!

Nicole writes ‘Thank you very much for this program which enables families to restore their properties and leave them in a vastly better condition than they found them.  Our two boys (two and four) loved getting their hands dirty and helping plant the trees ensures that they will inherit our passion and learn the skills necessary to be future custodians of the land’.

So, I thank you for either voting for my blog, listening to me talk at a WNA luncheon or in the case of Asha and Natasha pushing their companies to reduce their carbon footprints with Fifteen Trees.

Cheers – Colleen

The number of trees planted with the assistance of Fifteen Trees supporters – 6690.  [/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

David Cook-Doulton and Martin Shew always thought regional towns of Ballarat and Bendigo had a world-class feel. They could see it in the wide streets, the grand buildings and beautiful botanical gardens. And so two world-class hotels were created – Hotel Vera (Ballarat) and Hotel Ernest (Bendigo). Both hotels link luxury with environmental awareness as part of ‘true luxury, founded upon environmental integrity’.
