Tree Planting with G.J. Gardner Bendigo.

TREES PLANTED

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our NATIVE ENVIRONMENT since 2013 and in that time has HELPED PLANT 1000’s of trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year, the project will see over 7,000 trees planted by SCHOOLS, landcare and various ENVIRONMENTAL groups. GJGLogo_NO-TAG_WHITE_BG_lrgKris Gill and Danny Green from G.J Gardner Homes Bendigo are generous supporters of community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, the guys purchased 1065 trees for the West Marong Landcare Group. Judy Crocker facilitated the tree planting days with Landcare members and students from Bendigo TAFE. The trees were planted at 2 sites – 1.  Hepburn/Ralton Neivandts Road and 2. the Langley property at Elmsford Rd. “Our planters were provided with a wonderful BBQ lunch by Glenda Ralton with the students then being provided with a lesson in using a direct seeding machine. The day finished with a visit to erosion control methods and structures that are now part of an ongoing farm re-vegetation program. Thank you to G.J. Gardner for supplying us with all these wonderful trees”. Judy Crocker | Facilitator | North Central Landcare These trees will help to complete the planting enhancement of an eroded gully and stablise this creek system in West Marong. The generous offer of one thousand (and 65) trees were greatly appreciated by the West Marong Landcare members. Huge thanks once again to Danny and Kris. ‘Sometimes there are really simple things everyone can do to reduce their carbon footprint. When staying at a hotel, choosing to skip the room cleaning and having a tree planted instead, is one of those things’. Hugo from Hotels for Trees.

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. 5,040 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
