Tree planting in Ballarat, Vic.

TREES PLANTED

G.J. Gardner trees planted in Ballarat.

Across Victoria and Tasmania, G.J. Gardner Homes has this year, supported over 20 community groups by providing the funds for them to purchase trees. All up … over 5400 trees! In many cases, franchise owners and employees have left offices and building sites to join in with their local landcare and school groups to dig holes, remove exotic species (e.g. gorse and blackberry) and plant trees. In Ballarat, 855 trees were planted at 4 sites with the support of G.J. Gardner Ballarat. At Buninyong 270 trees were planted, at the Pentland Hills 225 trees were planted and at Villa Maria Primary School 360 trees were planted on the school grounds. At Buninyong, Allison and Shane Pearce were helped out by GJG Rob McMaster and his team. Allison writes … “Rob and his colleague Terry came and helped us plant a few about a week ago and later Shane and I finished off the last 50 or so. We have had numerous praise from neighbours whom have been motivated to clean up their paddocks and nature strips also. As always, our planting has been another great success. We can’t wait to see how it all looks in a couple of years. We even managed to recycle some of the stakes and plastics from trees planted only 12 months ago such is their growth! Huge thank you to Rob and Terry”.   At the Pentland Hills (eastern side of Ballarat), this note came in from Emma Muir from Pentland Hills Landcare… “The planting took place at the Biolink project that links Mt Blackwood to the Werribee Gorge. There was extensive rabbit and weed work done on the property in the last 2 years. The planting day was supported by a number of organisations, including, Western Water, Bacchus Marsh Lions Club, Myrniong Primary School,  Pentland Hills Landcare, the Myrniong Community, Friends of Werribee Gorge and of course G.J. Gardner Homes Ballarat”. And over at Villa Maria, the Environmental Teacher Sarah Page was delighted to have received 360 trees for their school grounds. Sarah writes … “The trees were planted in the unique wetlands where we have been planting a native forest over the past eight years or so. We also used some of the trees to continue our nature corridor along the boundary of our fencing. We hope to extend this forest in order to attract more native wildlife, including insects, birds and marsupials to this habitat”.
