Toscan Dinn Funerals supports tree planting.

TREES PLANTED

Every year, Fifteen Trees plants 100 trees on the behalf of Peter Dinn and Toscan Dinn Funerals (Weston ACT). One hundred trees planted in memory of those dearly departed souls entrusted into the care of Peter and his team. This year the planting was done by Janette Ryan in conjunction with Ginninderra Catchment Group. We were very grateful to receive the 100 trees to help with our efforts at ‘Windy Hill’ to revegetate a gully, which leads directly into the Murrumbidgee River near Murrumbateman, NSW. When we bought the block 14 years ago, there were only about 10 mature trees remaining on the entire 32 hectares of overgrazed and over-cleared land. We are recreating a bush corridor from the river up the gully to the top of our block. Connecting it with similar work being done by several of our neighbours. We fenced off our part of this gully from stock in 2001 and have since planted several thousand trees.

To improve the success rate, we used our new tractor to rip planting lines to the maximum extent that was safe on such a steep hillside. We planted the tubestock at intervals of 5 metres, and gave each tree a protective guard. It’s very challenging to get water to this area of our land. Our solution was to fill a 500 litre plastic cube with water; make a new safe, drivable track to the location; cart the cube using forks on the tractor; and then water the trees by hand, carrying watering cans up the hillside. With the help of one generous friend, my husband and I planted all the trees in three shifts in September and October 2015. We have watered them all on a weekly basis since then. Miles and I were delighted to learn that the trees were donated by Toscan Dinn as a tribute to those who had died in the past year. Our little property will be a lovely peaceful place for their souls to rest and flourish, and they in turn will nurture our land. Please pass on our appreciation to Peter Dinn! Sending kind regards and much gratitude. Janette Ryan
Thank you Peter for your on-going support of our tree planting projects in the ACT. Peace and blessings to all your families who have given their loved ones into your care. Slainte (Irish for cheers) – Colleen[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
