Sixteen Individuals and 270 trees.

TREES PLANTED

One cool day, on a wind swept hills of Yea (Central Victoria), 22 students (VCAL class), two teachers, a couple of land-owners and the local landcare co-ordinator planted 270 native trees. These trees were planted on the behalf of sixteen amazing individuals who have an understanding of the need to support rural landcare groups with their revegetation projects. And none are so deserving than the community of Murrindindi Shire of Victoria.
Yea High School students and teachers.
Big love and thank you to: Janette Dunkley, David Broadway, Claire Coulson, Jen Clark, Vanessa Nitsos, Walt Collins, Upinder Sidhu, Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey who all purchased 15 trees each. Eddie Natt who purchased 30 trees and Renae Shadler who purchased 45 trees (to help collect the carbon from her flights to and from Berlin). Charles Taliaferro, lecturer at St Olaf College, Minnesota USA, purchased 15 trees on the behalf of his students: Amorette Vang, Sahreenah Glispie, William Dietrich, Olivia and Sigrid, Emily Brainard, Daniel Vega, Abby Schilling, Eimil Hiiri, Leena Elmosa, St. Olaf Bahamas Interim 2019, Jack Klein, Ellie Helm, Nicole Pauley, Kali Weiss and Erik Nelson. Charles purchases trees every semester for his students. Thank you Charles for supporting Australian tree planting projects all the way from the US. We had 30 trees purchased as eco-gifts. Vanessa Nitsos purchased 15 trees for her friend Jules Thompson Martin. Jules, Vanessa sends her apologies for missing your birthday party! Lauren Sandon also purchased 15 trees as a gift to her friend Brittany. Jules and Brittany, we all hope you like your eco-gift of trees. And finally, Emma and Ebony from Pretty Flamingo and Andrew Grant from Golden Nugget Discovery Tours are now running their cars’ carbon neutral with 15 trees planted on the behalf of both companies.
The students did a great job and landowners Rachel and Peter were very grateful for the help. Thank you to all who support Fifteen Trees who in return support us and our rehabitation projects. Chris Cobern | Landcare Coordinator | Upper Goulburn Landcare Network
Once again, a big thank you to those 16 individuals who all chipped in to purchase these trees. Tree planting season has officially begun! Slainte – Colleen   <300 Yea = 30 VPA / 270 16 individuals>

2100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in. (Feature image from Mt Worth Landcare).

Individual actions really do matter! Individually we can really only make small differences to the world around us, but collectively our numbers add up. And if enough individuals are involved then forests can be grown!
