Dear Colleen,Thank you for the opportunity to receive some trees (120) through your Fifteen Trees program. My wife and son helped to put the seedlings into the ground. We selected native trees from our local nursery (Codrington) to encourage the native animals onto our property. We planted Sugar Gums, Blackwoods and Flowering Eucalyptus.

Chris planted the trees in the western district of Victoria. They were a mixture of native trees and shrubs, indigenous to the area. Codrington is a well known local nursery that specialises in the propagation of Australian plants.

Fifteen Trees has a number of people to thank for these trees.
Thank you Sonja Meyer. Sonja is traveling throughout Asia wanted to reduce the carbon footprint of her flights. We have planted one tree for every hour Sonja is ‘in the air’. All up 50 hours flying = 50 trees! Sonja Meyer is an eco-graphic designer with sustainability at her core.
Thank you to Felix Junker from Fairlight NSW and Sr Anne Hill (from St Brigid’s in Craigieburn) for your 15 trees each. Both Felix and Anne have been long time supporters of Fifteen Trees.
Niina and Richard wanted 3 trees planted for their nephew Eli (the Blackwood above is one of yours kiddo). Thanks Niina for finding Fifteen Trees.
And finally thank you to the fabulous Prof Charles Taliaferro from St Olaf College Minnesota. Charles is my international friend who has helped with another 30 trees.
That leaves 7 trees. Fifteen Trees have planted these 7 to cover the carbon footprint of the 7 Science teachers who attended my presentation at STAVCON this year (Science Teachers Association of Victoria Conference). My topic was ‘teaching about climate change’. Not a huge crowd drawn to my presentation, but quality is always better than quantity.
All up … 120 trees from a variety of wonderful people. A huge thank you to all those mentioned above.

This year, we planted Simon’s trees at Westgate Park in Port Melbourne with the team from Westgate Biodiversity, a not-for-profit organisation located at the base of one of Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks and busiest gateways to the city.
According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
‘We’re incredibly grateful to our generous sponsors for supporting this year’s planting. Your contribution helps restore vital bushland, strengthen biodiversity, and inspire a deeper connection between community and country. Thank you for helping us grow something truly lasting’.
