From the UK to AUS with love!

When Oblong looked into offsetting their own emissions, they found the process overly complicated and lacking in integrity. So they developed Oblong Trees, a company that streamlines offsetting, doesn’t get too bogged down in precise calculations, and makes a tangible difference.

When Oblong looked into offsetting their own emissions, they found the process overly complicated and lacking in integrity. So they developed Oblong Trees, a company that streamlines offsetting, doesn’t get too bogged down in precise calculations, and makes a tangible difference. Importantly, Oblong Trees recognises that there is limited space in the UK, and that trees planted on the other side of the world are just as vital for combatting climate change as any in your own backyard.

Fifteen Trees is proud to be Oblong Trees’ Australian planting partner and this year (to date) have planted 700 trees on their behalf.

Site 1. Esperance, Western Australia | 300 trees

Dorothy (yellow jacket) and tree planting friends.

Esperance is located on the south coast of Western Australia. It is a beautiful district with white sand beaches, wildflower reserves and a national park called Cape Le Grand. Fifteen Trees has been working with Dorothy Henderson and this district for many years, helping the family to re-vegetate the property with native shrubs and trees. Longtime lovers of all things native, the Henderson’s are creating a wonderful ecosystem that encourages wildlife to return to the area. Google map link.

Trees obtained via Fifteen Trees and Oblong, have enabled us to continue our program of tree planting in vulnerable areas on our property, particularly at a time when funding via other sources is difficult to obtain. Without these trees, our property would not be the habitat for birds and other wildlife that it is now. Although there is plenty more to be done, we are so excited by what has been achieved so far. We have planted species such as Eucalyptus occidentals (swamp mate), Acacia myrleforlia (myrtle wattle), Acacia cyclops (coastal wattle), Acacia saligna (WA golden wattle) and Melaleuca cuticularis (saltwater paperbark).

Huge thank you to our new friends in the UK.

Site 2. Phillip Is, Victoria | 400 trees.

These trees were planted by Geoff Trease from the Bass Coast Landcare Group at Ventnor, Phillip Island.

It takes a team to plant 400 trees.

Many thanks to Fifteen Trees and Oblong UK for your help with this project.  The Phillip Island Landcare group are very grateful for the ongoing support you have provided. It really helps our group to maintain and improve the environmental qualities of Phillip Island and enhancing the wildlife corridor works that are so important to the community. Some of the species of trees we have planted, include; swamp gum, coast manna gum, messmate and narrow-leafed peppermint gum.

Our climate needs big, global thinkers right now, with big, global goals. Oblong Trees is right there with the zeitgeist, and we are right there with them. Thank you to Dan Whiteman, managing director at Oblong UK Ltd for initiating this partnership and entrusting Fifteen Trees to be your Australian planters.

Here at Fifteen Trees, we are always happy to have a chat about the best way to incorporate sustainability into your organisation. We can help you to connect with the broader community and reduce some of your company’s environmental impacts. If interested, please contact Melinda at <[email protected]>.
