The Napoleon-Enfield Landcare group have been very busy this past month planting out 500 trees in the Napoleon district (south of Ballarat). The trees were planted at 6 locations with another 100 earmarked for the Napoleon’s Primary School students to plant on National Tree Day on July 29th. The group have been very grateful for the support of their endeavours to revegetate our native environment.

Once again the team at Ballarat Cityhave helped to ‘get these trees in the ground’ by carbon offsetting 40 of its new Peugeots and Honda Hybrids and Civics. Justin Krousoratis has committed to planting 15 trees for every Peugeot and Honda sold from his Creswick Rd dealership.
Over their lifetime, these trees will collect the cars’ carbon and provide native wildlife with habitat. The trees are all indigenous to the area in which they were planted and were sourced from Avalon Nursery at Haddon.
I’ve been inundated with requests from Landcare groups primarily from Victoria but also as far away as the Daintree in Queensland. Thank you to all the Fifteen Trees supporters (listed above) and in particular the ones like Ballarat City whose ongoing support has enabled over 1500 trees to be planted in this past year.

‘This project represents an important step toward improving the ecological health of the entire property. Sincere thanks go to all those who contributed plants, time and support helping turn a simple farm dam into a flourishing pocket of biodiversity’. Northern Bendigo Landcare.
David Cook-Doulton and Martin Shew always thought regional towns of Ballarat and Bendigo had a world-class feel. They could see it in the wide streets, the grand buildings and beautiful botanical gardens. And so two world-class hotels were created – Hotel Vera (Ballarat) and Hotel Ernest (Bendigo). Both hotels link luxury with environmental awareness as part of ‘true luxury, founded upon environmental integrity’.
