Montessori Childrens House, Brunswick.

TREES PLANTED

“The land is where our roots are. The children must be taught to feel and live in harmony with the Earth” – Maria Montessori The new Montessori Children’s House in Brunswick is about to open its doors to pre-school children in northern suburbs of Melbourne. Based on the pedagogy of Maria Montessori, the Children’s House includes ‘natural out door learning space’ which allows the children the opportunity to explore their natural world. Digging in the mud will be central to their curriculum! G.J. Gardner Homes Melbourne has assisted the Children’s House by covering the cost of 135 trees and plants for their school grounds. Landscape Architect Katherine Rekaris and Anne Miles, (Vice President of the Committee of Management) chose hardy indigenous species that will (in time) provide plenty of shade for the children (and no doubt allow for some essential tree climbing). Fifteen Trees has been working with Ross Morley (General Manager) of G. J. Gardner Homes for the past year to help the home construction company become more involved with the local community and environment.  Last year, 4,000 trees were planted across Tasmania and Victoria due to their involvement. It is with great pleasure to announce that the partnership continues into 2014 and G. J. Gardner have committed to fund the planting of another 5355 trees. A big company with a big heart.
