Live Architecture is a Warrnambool based design and sustainability consultancy with its sights set on making the world a more liveable place, one project at a time. Fiona Golding, award-winning Director of Live Architecture, takes a personal, holistic approach to her designs, combining energy efficiency and technical expertise with a focus on local knowledge and functionality.
As part of its commitment to sustainable design and thinking local, Live Architecture has partnered with Fifteen Trees to plant trees in the local district. This is an architect who appreciates the interconnectedness of all things and understands that sustainability is more than a star system (although it’s definitely worth noting that Live Architecture’s projects are never less than 7.5 stars for energy efficiency!!).
Planting of the trees occurred at a remote spring fed gully in Bullanbul Creek, Grassmere, SW Victoria, which had very few existing tree species. The site was wet underfoot therefore trees were planted on the higher section close to fence line and species selected survive well in wet conditions. The owner of the property had his first experience in planting native trees and was helped by two members of the Hopkins Falls Landcare Group, which was a great experience for all involved.
A huge thanks to Fifteen Trees and their generous supporters for the offer of the trees and their help to make these plantings possible.

These trees were planted in an effort to provide and create habitat for wildlife in the area. The trees were sourced from local nursery Cudgee Creek Native plants from locally sourced seed.
The mix of trees planted had many species needed for the local koala population that wander through the area. Koalas particularly love Yellow Gum, Manna Gum, Grey, Red-box and Candle-bark.
We love sustainable builders and architects. Building accounts for around 40% of worldwide carbon emissions, so anything that can be done to reduce the impact of the industry is a win for us all. We also love holistic thinkers. You can have the most efficient house in the world, but it needs to be balanced with practicality and comfort. Our homes are our sanctuaries.
Our landscapes are sanctuaries too. We are so pleased to partner with a firm whose business practices reflect this understanding.
