Mt Clear Primary School (Vic)

TREES PLANTED

DSCF0655 Peter King from Kings Cars (Ballarat) has been a long time supporter of Fifteen Trees. In fact, Peter was one of the very first companies to ‘come on board’ and his enthusiasm really encouraged me to see Fifteen Trees as a viable business. Peter purchases  trees (15) for every Citroen and Mitsubishi sold at his Ballarat dealership. These trees are then distributed to community groups to plant. To date, Peter has helped plant well over 3000 trees in the Central Highlands of Victoria. This time round, Mt Clear Primary School has been the recipient of Peter’s generosity. DSCF0620 Mt Clear teacher, Cynthia Davidson along with her Environmental Team organised a tree planting day to enable every student in the school to plant a tree. Parents and grandparents turned up to assist on the day, which tied in beautifully with National Tree Day for Schools. Over the course of the day 345 native trees were planted on the school grounds. colleen(1)   Thank you to the amazing Cynthia for all her work with the students getting this event organised. A massive effort. Slainte – Colleen

2100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in. (Feature image from Mt Worth Landcare).

Individual actions really do matter! Individually we can really only make small differences to the world around us, but collectively our numbers add up. And if enough individuals are involved then forests can be grown!
