Did you know Pozible is the biggest crowdfunding platform in the Asia-Pacific region? And that it was homegrown right here in Australia? Well, it is and it was. To add to your newly acquired collection of Pozible facts, you might also like to know that Pozible is walking the sustainability talk by partnering with us to plant 40 trees as part of their 2021 Green Friday campaign.
Crowdfunding has been a staple of getting fringe projects on their feet for centuries. Even projects that aren’t so fringe have raised money this way – the Statue of Liberty, for example, was completed through a crowdfunding campaign that raised over $2,000,000 (in today’s money). It all works like a kind of oversized financial working bee. And anyone who’s been part of a good working bee knows how much can get done in a short time by a committed group!
We look forward to working with Pozible on future projects and in the meantime, have planted their 40 trees at Yea in the Murrindindi Shire of Victoria (traditional land of the Taungurung people), which was part of a bigger planting project of 450 trees.
With the help of volunteers from the local ANZ Bank and Yea Landcare members, we planted 450 indigenous plants (kindly provided by supporters of Fifteen Trees) into an area that has been fenced off from stock by the landowner. This revegetation site will provide a protected habitat for wildlife.
The morning started out in thick fog, but the sun broke through eventually and it was a great day for everyone involved.
Landowners, John and Elizabeth Runciman are very grateful for the trees and will be keeping an eye out for the native woodland birds that they hope will be enticed to frequent the area.

These days crowdfunding happens online. As we know very well here at Fifteen Trees, a lot of people doing a little, adds up to a lot. A debut album, a published book, a band tour, or a whole forest. We’ve run a few crowdfunding campaigns of our own on Pozible, which have resulted in hundreds of trees being planted all over the country. We understand, just like the good people at Pozible, that not everyone has the means to throw thousands of dollars at a passion project. But most can spare the price of a cup of coffee. And that’s how it begins.

Fifteen Trees acknowledges Indigenous Australians as the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, live and play.
We recognise that Indigenous Australians have cared for and lived in harmony with this land for millennia, and their knowledge and wisdom of the land endures.
We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and stand in solidarity as Indigenous Australians seek a fairer and more sustainable future for the land and its people.
