Trees at Sebastopol Primary thanks to Harrison Funerals.

TREES PLANTED

Brian and Maree Harrison (Harrison Funerals) have once again donated trees to a Ballarat local school. This time around, 17 mature trees were planted at Sebastopol Primary School due to the generosity of this caring couple.

Harrison Funerals Hi_Res_RGB   Harrison Funerals ‘strive to ensure that every family’s funeral experience is a positive one and through (their) care and service (they) are able to ease some of the grief and assist the healing process’. Harrison Funerals plant one mature tree on the behalf of every family who use their service.   [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]

Dear Colleen, What a fabulous opportunity Sebastopol Primary School had in receiving 17 trees to plant around our school. Term 3 saw the beginning of a small-scale kitchen garden program. This meant for the senior students and myself a chance to research, plan and develop our very own garden from scratch. Part of the plan for our garden was a small orchard of apple, pear, lemon and cherry trees and a shaded playing area on the top oval. Thanks to the Fifteen Trees program and Harrisons Funerals, we were able to achieve these two goals. The students have gained a huge sense of pride for ‘their’ schools trees and understand the value of planting for the future. Nadine Ogilvie | Classroom teacher | Sebastopol PS
Thank you Maree and Brian for your continued support of our local schools and their tree planting projects. Slàinte – Colleen[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

‘Sometimes there are really simple things everyone can do to reduce their carbon footprint. When staying at a hotel, choosing to skip the room cleaning and having a tree planted instead, is one of those things’. Hugo from Hotels for Trees.

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
