Tree Planting with G.J. Gardner Wodonga

TREES PLANTED

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment since 2013 and in that time has helped plant 1000’s of trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year, the project will see over 7,000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups. GJGLogo_NO-TAG_WHITE_BG_lrgAdam Gregor, Tristan Bullock and Danny Green from G.J Gardner Homes Wodonga are generous supporters of community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, the guys purchased 645 trees for the Wodonga Urban Landcare Network. The trees went into 2 sites – Castle Creek Rd, Wodonga (Sunday 16th August) and Jack in the Box Creek (Saturday 5th September). Tristan from GJG – walkin’ the talk!
Dear Colleen, We had a great day with over 600 plants in the ground by lunchtime at various locations along Castle Creek Rd, Wodonga. About 16 locals, adults and children (and dogs!) came out to plant trees and under-storey to support Koala habitat. Tristan from G.J. Gardiner and his daughter helped with planting. We were lucky in regards to weather for our next planting at Jack-in-the-Box Creek.  A small but keen contingent of Land-carers planted the remainder of our GJG plants – a mixture of eucalyptus and large shrubs went into the ground on the edges of the creek-line. These ísland’ plantings will eventually both screen the adjacent industrial buildings and allow wildlife to re-inhabit the area. The Landcare Network plans to work with the Council and school groups to mulch the planting before summer is upon us. Many thanks once again for your support and we hope to work with you and GJG again next spring! Thanks for directing these trees to us, they are a welcome supplement to our winter planting budget. Anne Stelling | Facilitator | Wodonga Urban Landcare Network Inc. Huge thank you to the team from GJG Wodonga for not only purchasing the trees for the local community to plant, but also for getting out in the field to actually put foot to shovel. Thanks also to Anne Stelling for coordinating the purchasing of the trees, selecting and preparing the sites and for organising the volunteers.
