The hills are alive with trees!

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013. By the end of this year, Ross and the team at GJG will have helped plant over 56,000 trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year alone, the relationship between G.J. Gardner Homes and Fifteen Trees, will see over 11,000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups.

The partnership with Fifteen Trees, allows G.J. Gardner teams to go into the field for some team building activities as well as giving some support to the local community.

Josh Tyrrell from G.J. Gardner Homes Warragul is a generous supporter of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year Josh purchased 360 trees for his local area in Gippsland, VIC. The trees were planted at 2 sites, one site was at Cloverlea, close to the top of Mt Worth, the other site was at the Tetoora Road Community Centre.

Our planting day saw sunshine hit Tetoora Road just in time for our meet-up. The team planted some 120 plants along the landscaped banks to the west of the hall as well as along the southern boundary of the tennis courts. Seedlings were supplied by Warragul G.J. Gardner Homes and were put to great use to fill the gaps and complete the planting on the western banks of the site.

Over at Cloverlea, the team worked hard on the lower slope infilling the gaps with new seedlings. We will have a dense forest in a year or two.

Thank you Josh and G.J. Gardner for your contribution to our continued work revegetating the hills of Gippsland.

Rob East | Secretary | Mt Worth & District Landcare Group

Thank you Josh and team for enabling this project to go ahead, by purchasing 360 native trees and shrubs for this site. Thank you also to Rob East for finding the sites and co-ordinating the planting with the Mt Worth and District Landcare.
