Trees for Mildura thanks to G. J. Gardner Homes.

TREES PLANTED

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013 and has helped plant 1000’s of trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year, the project will see over 8,500 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups. GJGLogo_NO-TAG_WHITE_BG_lrg Brad Stanbrook, Di Stanbrook and Ross Williams from G. J. Gardner Homes Mildura are generous supporters of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, this trio have purchased 675 trees for community planting groups such as the Red Cliffs and Districts Community Landcare Group.   mothers-day The first site to plant trees (200) was at the Red Cliffs Lookout in Mildura.
Red Cliffs and Districts Community Landcare Group and Trees for Mum shared a Mother’s Day event (Sunday May 8th 2016) with the local community. Several new comers with young families came to share the day celebrating their new families while remembering mothers and grandmothers whom are past. Also braving the cold, wet, windy morning were long-time supporters of the day. Approximately 20 volunteers plus members planted 200 indigenous native flora at the Red Cliffs Lookout. Over the past three years we have put in over 1000 native plants to the area. Reclaiming bushland from compacted tracks and clearing. We would like to thank Fifteen Trees and their local sponsors G.J. Gardner Homes for the continued support in donating the plants. Vanessa Oxley | Project Manager.

Other plantings were on National Tree Day with 100 seedlings planted at a drainage basin in Red Cliffs, 160 planted at Tina’s private property, 80 planted at Lynette’s private property, 45 planted at the Millewa Community and Pioneer Forest, 30 planted at a rest area on Calder Hwy in Red Cliffs Township by the Red Cliffs Lions club, 20 planted by the Red Cliffs Salvation Army and 40 planted at the Mildura Alcheringa Pony Club.
Sometimes the simplest of things when trying to do something good seem so difficult. Fifteen Trees makes it easy to be able to achieve good things. The plants we have received have made a big difference not just because of their benefit to the environment but bringing local groups together.  Vanessa

2100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in. (Feature image from Mt Worth Landcare).

Individual actions really do matter! Individually we can really only make small differences to the world around us, but collectively our numbers add up. And if enough individuals are involved then forests can be grown!
