Hi Colleen, The planting went very well. There were 4 lads that came out planting in some pretty trying weather conditions. The farm we planted on was Laurie and Barbera Neve. They were the first landholders to become involved with the ‘Lungs to the Lakes’ re-vegetation project. The plan is to revegetate and link existing native tree remnants with each other that exist along Cobblers Creek, Smiths Creek and parts of Macleods Morass. Macloeds Morass is home to many rare and endangered wetland birds, frogs and migratory birds. One of the odd thing about this re-vegetation project is that the dominant upper story species is Snow Gum ( Eucalyptus pauciflora). Its origin is not certain but is certainly adds an interesting aspect to the project. Our aim is to link and revegetate 5.5 km of Cobblers Creek and 3 km of Smiths Creek (a tributary of Cobblers Creek). Andy Booth | Facilitator | Gippsland Plains CMNThank you to Michael and the team from the Bairnsdale office for all your work in getting these trees planted. A wild day out planting is what I have heard. Great work. Slainte – Colleen[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
