G.J. Gardner are connecting with communities in a wonderful way!
TREES PLANTED
Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013. By the end of this year, Ross and the team at GJG will have helped plant over 56,000 trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year alone, the relationship between G.J. Gardner Homes and Fifteen Trees, will see over 11,000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups.
The partnership with Fifteen Trees, allows G.J. Gardner teams to go into the field for some team building activities as well as giving some support to the local community.
Rob McMaster from G. J. Gardner Homes Ballarat is a generous supporter of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year Rob and his team purchased 1265 trees for Jenny Ryle and the Leigh Creek Catchment Group.
GJG Ballarat
This is the G. J. Gardner Homes planting site. It is one of six sections along the Union Jack Creek which we are restoring. The whole creek from the bridge at the top to the confluence with the Yarrowee was invaded with woody weeds. There were just two native species; Blackwood and bidgee widgee and now there are next to no weeds, very few rabbits and 42 species of native plants bringing biodiversity back to this area.
This was the steepest section and difficult to work on but we needed to make it connected with the rest of the work.
Thank you to Rob and the team from GJG Ballarat. Thank you for not only purchasing the trees (1265) for this site but also for coming out and helping us plant.
Jenny Ryle | Secretary | Leigh Catchment Group
Thank you Rob for enabling this project to go ahead by purchasing (and planting) 1265 trees for Jenny and her hardworking group of volunteers. Thank you also to Jenny for finding a site and co-ordinating the planting with the Leigh Catchment Group and Ballarat Wildplants Nursery.

This year, we planted Simon’s trees at Westgate Park in Port Melbourne with the team from Westgate Biodiversity, a not-for-profit organisation located at the base of one of Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks and busiest gateways to the city.
According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
‘We’re incredibly grateful to our generous sponsors for supporting this year’s planting. Your contribution helps restore vital bushland, strengthen biodiversity, and inspire a deeper connection between community and country. Thank you for helping us grow something truly lasting’.
