TREES PLANTED

360

Scott Doughty and Judy Corcoran from G.J. Gardner Homes Mornington are longtime supporters of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year Scott, Judy and their team purchased 360 native trees (and tree guards) for the Mornington Peninsula Koala Conservation (MPKC) and their Somers Koala Habitat Project at Shoreham, VIC. This brings their tree tally to 2,025! They have been supporting us since 2016.

The Somers Koala Habitat Project (Coolart to Cerberus Biolink) is a wonderful project to support. Over 70% of landholders have confirmed their intent to participate and the project is also backed by Mornington Peninsula Shire, Parks Victoria and the Department of Defence. And now with sponsors such as Fifteen Trees and G.J. Gardner Mornington, this revegetation project is growing by leaps and bounds.

Mornington Peninsula Koala Conservation (MPKC), is a group dedicated to creating a koala wildlife corridor (connecting existing sections of koala habitat and food trees) on the Mornington Peninsula. This involves planting in the existing koala corridors, thereby encouraging koalas out of urban areas and away from the many threats they face.

To achieve our goals, we need funding to purchase trees for the wildlife corridors. All money received goes directly towards bringing our projects and goals to life. Thank you to the team from GJG for your support.

Some of the trees planted included native species such as; Drooping Sheoak, Coastal Banksia, Messmate, Swamp Gum, Coastal Manna Gum, Narrow-leafed Peppermint, Black Wattle, Blackwood, Scented and Swamp Paperbark and Silky Hakea.

G.J. Gardner’s core business is building homes. Safe, secure places for families to grow and thrive for many years to come. We love that alongside this G.J. Gardner is planting forests, which is very much the same thing; safe, secure places for fauna and flora to grow and thrive for many years to come. Thank you to Scott and Judy for your continued support since 2016.

At the heart of every nunnery is, of course, charity. We love our partnership with the Brigidine Sisters and are impressed with their passion to give. That’s a long history of giving from these remarkable women, and we are not only benefactors of this kindness, as their other philanthropy does ripple out to myriad of other organisations as well.
