Tree Planting Support from G. J. Gardner Bacchus Marsh

TREES PLANTED

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013 and has helped plant 1000’s of trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year, the project will see over 7,000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups. GJGLogo_NO-TAG_WHITE_BG_lrgBen Longhurst from G.J Gardner Homes Bacchus Marsh is a supporter of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, Ben purchased 300 trees for Coimadai Landcare. Moira Ross from the group then helped plant 150 trees at the local Coimadai Primary School and another 150 trees at a Bacchus Marsh reserve. Hi Colleen, Coimadai Primary school is a small rural school located just outside Bacchus Marsh. We have 56 students in the school. The school had our tree planting day on the 14th of August. We planted 150 trees & shrubs in and around our school. Students worked in pairs. Senior students buddied up with the junior students. All staff were involved. Senior students dug the holes for the trees using the larger utilities and the junior students then helped prepare the holes and together they planted the shrubs and placed mulch around them before putting the tree guards in place. Moira Ross | Coimadai Landcare Member Thank you Ben and the team from G.J Gardner Bacchus Marsh for your continued support. In years to come, students from the primary school will be able to swing from the branches of your trees and play chasey around their trunks. Slainte – Colleen  [/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

‘Sometimes there are really simple things everyone can do to reduce their carbon footprint. When staying at a hotel, choosing to skip the room cleaning and having a tree planted instead, is one of those things’. Hugo from Hotels for Trees.

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
