Garibaldi Hall

TREES PLANTED

You can just make out the tree in the foreground! The Garibaldi Hall and Public Reserve is located 20 km south of Ballarat, on the Mt Mercer Road, surrounded by farms and small rural landholdings. The Hall started life as the Garibaldi School which operated from 1879 until 1943, and has been refurbished over the past twenty-five years to become a focal point for local community events. The Public Reserve adjoining the Hall is a delightful area with barbecues, shelters, a playground and seating shaded by established trees. The recently-planted trees organised by ‘fifteen trees’ will provide further shady areas for the next century of summer picnics. Thank you from the Garibaldi community”. J. Ebbs The Garibaldi Hall Community are a dedicated group who have transformed this old school building into a communal space, where they meet regularly for working bees, social gatherings and from what I hear – pizza nights.  Harrison Funerals on Main Rd, Ballarat,  have made a commitment to the greening of our environment by generously paying for 4 established trees to be planted on the site.  Funeral director Brian Harrison has embraced the concept of carbon offsetting by implementing a policy of paying for one mature tree per cremation. Thank you Brian for your green innovative way of thinking. If you would like some mature trees for your community ‘spot’, including schools, hall sites, parks and gardens please email me (contact details at ‘fifteen trees’). Colleen
