TREES PLANTED

“Dear Colleen, On behalf of The Friends of Learmonth Community Garden please pass on our grateful thanks to BRACE  for the trees. We will ensure you (and BRACE)  get an invitation to our official launch of the community garden in Autumn 2011! Kind Regards – Liz”. The new Friends of Learmonth Community Garden had a massive working bee last month with many locals turning up to help plant out the native tube stock. Thanks to BRACE they were able to plant some local flora that included canopy trees, understorey and native grasses. The 150 trees paid for by BRACE  will serve as a boundary and windbreak and of course provide native animals with habitat. BRACE is to be commended for their green leadership. Their new green ICT building is ‘state of the art’ and compliments their partnership with Fifteen Trees. I am looking forward to the official launch next year at the Learmonth Community Garden. So, congratulations to the Friends Group who are so active in their local community and for making their part of the world a little greener. There is a lovely quote by Nelson Henderson (Irish author) “The true meaning of life, is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” There is little I can add to that! Cheers for now – Colleen  & : )
