Frankston Beach, Victoria.

TREES PLANTED

Hello Colleen, We had a successful morning undeterred by  a few showers. Ten hearty souls  planted 200 trees and shrubs on the Frankston foreshore just north of the Frankston Yacht Club. Thank you once again.  Johan de Bree. Frankston Beach Association. Here are some of those ‘hearty souls’ Johan refers to.

The dynamic group at Frankston Beach Association planted trees on National Tree Day along with various grasses and shrubs. This was made possible by the generous support of Nikki and Scott Teller from the Bewelded Group at Narracan who helped fund the planting of 96 of the 200 trees. Nikki and Scott are planting trees for each project they complete, each car they own and also to cover their flights. The other 100 plants were made possible by the WA company David Reid Painting Group. Every year, David has one tree planted on the behalf of each customer. That leaves 4 trees short – Fifteen Trees picked up the tab for those.

Lots of groups are madly planting before the season ends, and I still have others wanting to plant if I can find the funding. If you are thinking about helping out – now is the time – conditions are perfect.

Good thoughts without action are really … just good thoughts.

Slainte – Colleen

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
