Fifteen Trees in Queensland

TREES PLANTED

Students at Queensland’s Innisfail State College (a combined secondary school and TAFE) have been working hard over a number of years to improve the native area around their school. Many hours work has gone into the riverbank along the Johnstone River (which runs behind the school).  With earlier plantings helping to stabilize the riverbank, students are further encouraged to extend their work. The area is now (almost) free of weeds and the students have provided a wonderful habitat for local wildlife, especially native birds. 2014-07-28 12.19.44 Of the 280 trees planted along the river bank, 15 trees have come from Andrew Herington and another 15 from Sofia Fiusco from the LWBR (Leadership Ballarat & Western Region) Sofia wanted 15 trees planted as a thank-you to Mark Hemetsberger (Social Traders). IMG_3648 One of the 280 trees has been planted for Kaylar Fullington who wanted a tree planted on the behalf of Julie & Doug. And, one tree has been planted as a 21st birthday present to Maddie Muntean “Happy 21st Birthday, A tree has been planted in your honour. Love Alex“. Thank you to Andrew, Sofia, Kaylar and Alex for your contribution of 32 trees towards this project. Slainte – Colleen

We have a handful of organisations and small companies, who purchase trees when they can. These people are masters of ingenuity when it comes to incorporating tree planting into their business practices.

The Kogi people of Northern Columbia have been sending the same message to the West for years. It’s a familiar refrain here at Fifteen Trees, and one we wholeheartedly endorse: ‘Unless we stop violating the Earth and nature, depleting the Great Mother of her material energy, her organs, her vitality; unless people stop working against the Great Mother, the world will not last.’
