Trees for Team Google!

TREES PLANTED

Damien McClellan from EcoTreasures, is a big supporter of our native environment. EcoTreasures is a Sydney based company, who specializes in tours that showcase Sydney’s beaches and mountains. Damien recently purchased 24 trees for a regional park in Central Victoria. When we add up Damien’s trees from the past 7 years, they add up to almost 600 trees. An Ecotreasures Forest.

These 24 trees have been planted on the behalf of Google who enjoyed a snorkel tour with Ecotreasures in November 2019. The small team planned a tailored team building day at the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve, Shelly Beach Manly.

Damien’s latest trees were planted on the outskirts of the very successful ongoing revegetation project in the new Woowookarung State Forest Victoria. Formally called Canadian Regional Park, the new name acknowledges the deep engagement of the Wadawurrung People with the park and local area. Woowookarung means ‘Place of Plenty’ which highlights its importance to Wadawurrung for food, shelter, medicine and culture. The 641 ha park will see on-going re-vegetation works over the many years to come.   Thank you to the Friends of Woowookarung for all your work at this park. And thank you to Damien for your ongoing support for so many years.   Sláinte – Colleen   Colleen Filippa is the Founder and Director of Fifteen Trees. This year, Fifteen Trees celebrates 10 years. ‘Sometimes there are really simple things everyone can do to reduce their carbon footprint. When staying at a hotel, choosing to skip the room cleaning and having a tree planted instead, is one of those things’. Hugo from Hotels for Trees.

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. Ballarat Wildlife Park

5,040 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
