These trees have been planted on the behalf of IFSA team and their students. These 100 trees represent the students. As they grow they will become important in the world. Each tree adds value to the forest. Damien McClellan | Founder | EcoTreasuresThe friends’ group behind the park Westgate Biodiversity have been working on a re-vegetation program at the park for the past 20 years. Annually they plant around 20,000 native trees, shrubs and grasses. Their aim is to return the area to the river ecosystem it once was. They are well on their way there. As these trees grow, the biodiversity of the area is improving. It is becoming a popular place for the people of Melbourne and for the birds and animals that choose to make the park their home.
Westgate Biodiversity members and other volunteers gave up part of their Saturday to improve Westgate Park’s Southern Wetlands. This area was added to the park several years ago and has undergone a transformation. Using these plants provided by EcoTreasures, the wetland area is a stunning addition to the Park especially with the spring flowering plants. Tony Flude | Co-ordinator | Westgate BiodiversityThank you to Tony for all your work at this park. And thank you also to Damien who has been a supporter of Fifteen Trees and our community tree planting projects since 2012. Damien has purchased almost 600 trees over that time period. Restoring Australian ecosystems. Supporting communities with their revegetation projects for a greener and healthier planet.
Fifteen Trees acknowledges Indigenous Australians as the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, live and play.
We recognise that Indigenous Australians have cared for and lived in harmony with this land for millennia, and their knowledge and wisdom of the land endures.
We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and stand in solidarity as Indigenous Australians seek a fairer and more sustainable future for the land and its people.
