Commerce Ballarat Business Day Out

TREES PLANTED

This week, sees a huge event in Ballarat’s business community, with Commerce Ballarat’s Business Day Out. Taking place this Wednesday (May 30th) it is looking to attract over 200 people. The team from Commerce Ballarat wanted to ensure the day had a low carbon footprint, and so in partnership with us, are planting one tree on the behalf of every participant on the day.
Boasting some great speakers such as Craig Hutchison (Redefing Sports Broadcasting),  Dr Amantha Imber (Innovation Survivor) and Georgia Beattie (The Future of Work), the day is sure to be a great success.
The trees (200) will planted this winter by the Leigh Catchment Group at Bamganie, near Meredith. As you can see from the photo below, the area is in dire need of some vegetation. The trees will be all native and indigenous to the Bamganie area. They have been sourced from local nursery Ballarat Wild Plants. Thank you Jodie, Michelle and the team from Commerce Ballarat for your support of our local tree planting projects. Stay tuned for the actual planting photos. Slàinte – Colleen

Individual actions really do matter! Individually we can really only make small differences to the world around us, but collectively our numbers add up. And if enough individuals are involved then forests can be grown!

2100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in. (Feature image from Mt Worth Landcare).
