Some happy tree planters.
Some happy tree planters.
Hi Colleen, The planting site for the trees (60) was at Brenda Park Wetland, 35km upstream from Blanchetown and 5km downstream from Morgan. Six members of the River Murray Youth Council Upper Murray and two representatives from G. J. Gardner Homes Riverland pitched in to get the 60 trees into the ground. This year we also had four Riverland High School students involved in the project. Cheers – Karen Bishop, Riverland West Landcare Officer. Ensuring the trees are well watered.
Ensuring the trees are well watered.
A huge thank you to G. J. Gardner Homes who are helping out with tree planting across most states of Australia. This time round, 60 trees were planted due to the generous support of Melissa Pearce and her team at G. J. Gardner Homes Riverland, SA. Another 180 trees were planted at the Renmark Hospital by Kelli Ramm (Director of nursing) and 60 trees at Banrock Station. All up 300 trees in the Riverland district of SA. G. J. Gardner Homes S.A and W.A have become major supporters of Fifteen Trees by supplying 15 trees for every new home built this year.  In most cases, office staff have been giving up their time to head out to the planting sites to help with digging holes, planting trees and then staking and putting on the protective sleeves. Their enthusiasm and involvement has been greatly appreciated. Slainte – Colleen[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

‘Sometimes there are really simple things everyone can do to reduce their carbon footprint. When staying at a hotel, choosing to skip the room cleaning and having a tree planted instead, is one of those things’. Hugo from Hotels for Trees.

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. 5,040 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
