When artist/sculptor David Bromley teamed up with furniture maker Hans Boon to create Boon Bromley they decided that their business was going to be a marriage of beauty plus sustainability. Upon set up, they made a pact to plant a tree for every piece of furniture sold in their Daylesford and Sth Yarra galleries and this year we have planted 150 trees to honour that agreement.
Exquisite designer art is a thing of beauty. So to is a lush, fertile area thriving with trees and wildlife, regenerated by humans who care.
The two collaborate to create furniture where every piece is a total work of art. Just like no two trees in the forest are ever the same, their art is unique and highly sought after, and like trees, take a lot of nurturing plus time to come into their own.
On behalf of Boon Bromley 150 trees native to the area (plus guards) were lovingly planted with via a team of volunteers in the Upper Goulburn, in the Yea district, Victoria.
With the help of volunteers from the local ANZ Bank and Yea Landcare members, we planted 150 indigenous plants (kindly provided by supporters of Fifteen Trees) into an area that has been fenced off from stock by the landowner. This revegetation site will provide a protected habitat for wildlife.
The morning started out in thick fog, but the sun broke through eventually and it was a great day for everyone involved. Landowners, John and Elizabeth Runciman are very grateful for the trees and will be keeping an eye out for the native woodland birds that they hope will be enticed to frequent the area.

Like all good hardy reliable pieces of furniture, these trees will be a constant in the Yea district, where the Warring-Illum Balug Clan are traditional owners.
