Blue Mountain Eco Tours Supports Tree Planting

TREES PLANTED

Queensland Innisfail State College (a combined secondary school and TAFE) have been working hard over a number of years to improve the area around their school and in particular the banks of the Johnstone River that runs behind the campus. Earlier plantings have helped stabilize the riverbank, and students are now encouraged to extend their project with more tree planting. The area is now (almost) free of weeds and the students have provided a wonderful habitat for local wildlife, especially native birds.   IMG_3646 The school planted 280 trees of which Paul and Jenny from Blue Mountain Eco Tours (NSW) contributed 30. The couple’s main objective is to make sure that their customers have the best day possible in Blue Mountains. A huge thank you to this dynamic duo. bluemtecotour Slainte – Colleen

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
