TREES PLANTED

A full day of community activity.
Dear Colleen, Attached are some photos from the BEN planting held at the Meredith Police Paddocks reserve on Sunday 29/5.  The trees were planted to add to the similar number that we planted in August last year, which have done so well that we were able to remove stakes and guards from a number of them.  We have another planting lined up for Sunday 21 August.                               Hedley Thompson   Ballarat City has generously continued to support tree planting in the Ballarat  region to enable the BEN group to complete their planting at the Meredith Police Reserve. Every new car owner (of Peugeot and Honda) have had their carbon footprint reduced courtesy of Justin Krousoratis at the Creswick Rd dealership. At Meredith, 150 trees were planted and 10 new cars from Ballarat City were carbon offset. To collect your car’s carbon for one year you need to plant 15 trees. This is where the name from for my carbon offsetting company came from. However, over the past 18 months, Fifteen Trees has expanded  and I can now help out with carbon offsetting flights and energy usage at home and work, Please contact me if you would like to reduce your carbon footprint and make a significant contribution to  tree planting in rural Australia this winter. Cheers – Colleen The number of trees planted with the assistance of Fifteen Tree supporters – 3885.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

2100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in. (Feature image from Mt Worth Landcare).

Individual actions really do matter! Individually we can really only make small differences to the world around us, but collectively our numbers add up. And if enough individuals are involved then forests can be grown!
