TREES PLANTED

“Dearest Filippa,  Thank you so much for the opportunity to receive two trees via your generous project.  The trees are to be the very first plants that will establish a new garden surrounding an old church in Ballarat. The small church grounds have been neglected for many years, and so these trees are particularly valued. All my own resources are being channelled into renovating the interior of the church and setting up the new Art Therapy business, so I would not have normally have indulged in buying trees at this stage.  These  trees will be celebrated in our weekly meditation group this week”.  L.F Once again thank you to Brian and Maree Harrison from Harrison Funerals who have kindly paid for these mature trees to be planted on the grounds at the old church in South St, Ballarat. Their concept of carbon offsetting cremations is a fabulous one. Green burials and funerals are at present a new concept but one in which will become more popular as people become more aware of our impact on the world and begin to take action – from cradle to grave. Through the support of Harrison Funerals, ‘Fifteen Trees’ can now offer mature trees to land-care groups, community groups and individuals who want to simply plant trees – and we all know we need to plant trees, lots of trees. Cheers – Colleen

‘Sometimes there are really simple things everyone can do to reduce their carbon footprint. When staying at a hotel, choosing to skip the room cleaning and having a tree planted instead, is one of those things’. Hugo from Hotels for Trees.

‘We’re thrilled to team up with Fifteen Trees in this crucial effort. Koalas are an iconic Australian species, and with increasing threats to their natural environment, it’s never been more important to ensure they have access to suitable habitats.Planting these trees is just the beginning of a broader initiative to safeguard their future’. 5,040 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.
