The Upper Goulburn Landcare Network has just completed another very successful year of tree planting throughout the Murrindindi Shire. The trees (600) were planted across 2 sites by the Dhurringile Prison Landmate Team. With assistance from the Landmate Team, we planted on farms in Gobur and Alexandra. These trees will help revegetate the steep hill country and provide habitat for local wildlife including the rare Brown Treecreeper and Brush-tailed Phascogale. We are very grateful for the support again from Fifteen Trees and of course, all their supporters, who were able to provide funds to purchase the trees for this project. Chris Cobern | Landcare Coordinator | Upper Goulburn Landcare NetworkMurrindindi holds a special place in our hearts, for it was there that Black Saturday fires ravaged the country-side 10 years ago. The Black Saturday fires started on 7 February 2009. Approximately 400 fires were recorded across Victoria, affecting 78 communities. A total of 173 people died in the fires, and 2,029 houses were lost. A number of communities suffered extensive loss of life and property damage as a result of major fires, including Cobur and Alexandra. We are delighted to be helping out with their revegetation projects by purchasing trees for Chris Cobern and his Landmate teams to plant. Thank you. Thank you. YOU ALL ROCK.
