Essential Flavours. Supporting local restoration projects.

‘We feel very grateful, thankful and quite overwhelmed when we think about the contributions of all of the people involved. The project would not have happened without the support from sponsors of Fifteen Trees and such sterling efforts from Landcare and all the volunteers’. Kinglake Landcare.

TREES PLANTED

1,500

Essential Flavours does just what it implies – it makes flavours! Using a delightful combination of science and art they can make any flavour you like and provide it to you in liquid or powder form, from classic chocolate, through spices, and any fruit you care to mention. And what’s more, they don’t do flavouring in a small way – Essential Flavours products are distributed right across the Asia-Pacific region.

As well as tickling tastebuds from Stawell to Singapore and beyond, Essential Flavours is planting trees. Since August 2020, they have partnered with Fifteen Trees to commit to purchasing 250 trees every month for community tree planting projects. And their tree tally has grown, we have now planted 9,717 trees across Victoria on their behalf.

An Essential Flavours Forest.

This year, thanks to Essential Flavours, we were able to plant 1,500 trees at 5 Victorian sites in the Murrindindi Shire of Victoria with the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network. This area known for its tall eucalypt forests dominated by Messmate, Narrow-leaved Peppermint and Mountain Grey Gum. The tree plantings have helped to widen wildlife corridors which are so important to native animals trying to move across the district.

All 1500 plants donated to UGLN from Essential Flavours were successfully planted on 5 separate properties of landcare group members in the network.

  • Kinglake West as part of the Kinglake Landcare Group.
  • Limestone with help from members of the Upper Goulburn Intrepid Landcare Group. The plants were used to help revegetate and prevent erosion on a steep slopping section and gully on the property that has been permanently fenced off from stock.
  • Murrindindi with help from corporate volunteers from NAB. The plants were used to help revegetate the second stage of a large hilltop area on the property that has been permanently fenced off from stock.
  • Molesworth that has been badly affected by the floods over the last couple of years, and has helped replace some of the vegetation that they lost during the floods. The planting was carried out with assistance by volunteers from ANZ.
  •  Taggerty. The landowners have fenced off the Swamp Creek and some wildlife corridors on the property and the plants helped to revegetate these areas. ANZ also helped to plant these plants.

Some of the species of trees and shrubs planted included; Victorian Blue Gum, Manna Gum, Blackwood, Silver Wattle, Drooping She-oak, Silver Banksia, Hairpin Banksia, Red-fruited Saw-sedge, Silky Goodia, Bushy Needlewood, Musk Daisy Bush and Round-leaf Pomaderris.

Planting at Murrindini.

The plants will provide food and nesting opportunities for many species of native wildlife including Gang-gang Cockatoos, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos, Long-nosed Bandicoots and Sugar Gliders.

Thank you so much for the time and effort you invested into our revegetation projects. It was very successful and we are rapt. Fifteen hundred (1,500) trees and shrubs all planted and their guards set up. Now, that is an achievement!

We feel very grateful, thankful and quite overwhelmed when we think about the contributions of all of the people involved. The project would not have happened without the support from sponsors of Fifteen Trees and such sterling efforts from Landcare and all the volunteers.

We feel such warmth for you and for all of the people who took time out of their own lives to to plant trees and shrubs for the wildlife of tomorrow.

What a legacy, hey! Each time we look towards the bush and see those tree guards, we smile, remember and feel hopeful. May the wild creatures of the future enjoy the fruits of your support for many years to come (but may they not start nibbling just yet).
