Nurturing nature.

Care for land and sea go hand in hand. All interacts and all is of the same beneficial ecosystem. Skretting, a global leader in nutritional solutions and services for aquaculture, based in Tasmania, know this to be true and have been planting trees with us since 2013. In 2021, they helped us plant out 90 native trees in Wynyard and have planted an impressive 9,028 trees to date.

Skretting are all about optimum nutritional value, sustainable production and economic performance for the aquaculture industry. Caring for our oceans and caring for our land go hand in hand

Trees planted out, will compliment a large patch of the Apple Isle we have been populating with indigenous trees in the Wynyard region, where the Tommeginer tribe of Table Cape are Traditional Owners.

“We welcomed six young people from Hellyer College who arrived to help us plant out our trees which were supplied from Oldina Nursery, our local indigenous nursery.

Supervisor, Lewis Jaffray took charge and soon had the group organised to dig, plant and place protective guards. The area planted covered approximately an acre.

The planting had a four-fold purpose:

  • Regenerating native forest, with the purpose of re-establishing the native forest that existed before farming activities,
  • A haven for birds and wildlife,
  • Soil stabilization,
  • Environmental biodiversity improvement.

Thank you to everyone who assisted in this revegetation project.”
