TREES PLANTED

Peter Bull, General Manager of Viatek Central Victoria (Bendigo) was keen to reduce the carbon footprint of the 11 vehicles in his fleet by having 165 trees planted on his behalf. A quick look at the website told me that Viatek is in the ‘technology game’.  Apart from the list of products and services, the website also had loads of green hints to help offices become more sustainable (e.g. how to get the most out of your inks and toners). I picked up a great couple of new ideas. The Viatek trees went out to Meredith and were planted by Hedley Thomson and his team at BEN (Ballarat Environmental Network). Nine volunteers worked along side each other to plant the indigenous trees (which included Black Wattles). All the trees had tree guards to help protect the seedlings for the first year.  Next year, Hedley and co will head back out to remove the guards and check on the trees progress. Fifteen Trees and BEN have had a long relationship and I am delighted to be able to continue to support them. BEN draws on local knowledge and experience to achieve great outcomes for the environment. Slainte – Colleen[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
