Mature trees for Harrison.

TREES PLANTED

Maree and Brian from Harrison Funerals (Ballarat) have been long time supporters of the local community through Fifteen Trees. For every cremation service, they have one tree planted in a public space. Often, the trees have gone to school groups. And this time is no exception. Nicky Russell from St Columba Primary School planted 3 mature trees along the side of her school with the help of her environmental group. Stephen writes..
The Garibaldi Public Purposes Reserve Committee of Management took over the site adjacent to the public hall about ten years ago. It was a gorse infested mine site. We had a goal of removing the fire risk to the hall and to rehabilitate it into parkland reminiscent of the small botanic gardens around the state. The site covers about 2.5 ha of which we have now reclaimed about 1.5 ha. The last 2 years have seen the start of the tree planting. We expect the  reclamation works to take another five years with the tree planting being an ongoing part of the project.
Our committee expresses our gratitude to you and Harrison Funerals for for your assistance in providing trees to help make this project a success.
Thank you Maree and Brian for your generosity in providing trees for many Ballarat groups. Over time, these magnificent trees will provide cover and  beauty to our landscape and provide shade to a host of children and their families.
