Trees for the Platypus Festival.

TREES PLANTED

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013 and has helped plant 34,000 trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year, the project will see over 8,500 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups.   GJGLogo_NO-TAG_WHITE_BG_lrg Luke O’Connor and Andrew Timms from G. J. Gardner Homes Melbourne SE are generous supporter of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, Luke and Andrew purchased 270 trees for the Platypus Festival at Southern Dandenong.     [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]

The 2017 Platypus Festival was a terrific success. Entertainment, environmental education, recycled art, learning about our local waterways and the amazing creature that resides there, our beloved Platypus. It was also a terrific opportunity for planting indigenous plants alongside the creek. Hundreds of trees were planted on the day including 270 that were kindly donated by G.J. Gardner Homes. Those out planting included our fabulous community, the Platypus ambassador group & local scouts who were earning their environmental badge.

Thank you to G. J. Gardner Homes and Fifteen Trees for your amazing contribution toward our Platypus Festival.

1100 TREES PLANTED

According to Sustainability Victoria, the average Australian lifestyle produces 15,000kg of carbon per year. If that sounds like a lot, it is! Over its lifetime, a tree can collect and store 268kg. This means, we each need to plant 58 trees per year to bring our individual carbon production down to zero. A little tricky for most of us to do in our own backyards, and this is where ‘A Subscription for the Planet’ comes in.

For hotels, embracing sustainability can strengthen brand loyalty, enhance their reputation, and help differentiate them in a competitive market. In this way, sustainable initiatives are not just good for the planet – they also make strong business sense, creating a win-win for hotels, their guests, and the communities and ecosystems they support.

300 TREES PLANTED

April 29, 2026
There’s something quietly powerful about a person who decides, on their own, to do something good for the planet. No fanfare, no corporate mandate – just a simple choice to put a few trees in the ground. When hundreds of individuals make that same choice, something remarkable happens. Native forests are restored, wildlife corridors are rebuilt, and community groups across Australia get to do the work they love. So if you’ve ever purchased trees through Fifteen Trees, thank you.
