G.J. Gardner Homes Wodonga has been supporting our community tree-planting projects since 2013. In that time, an incredible 9,360 native trees have been planted across the Wodonga district thanks to their ongoing generosity.
Each year, Fifteen Trees plants 15 native trees for every new home built by the Wodonga team – a tangible and lasting contribution to the local environment.

This year, Adam and Simone Gregor purchased 600 native trees for planting in the beautiful Wodonga region of northern Victoria. We acknowledge the Wiradjuri, Waveroo and Dhudhuroa peoples as the Traditional Owners and original custodians of this land near Albury and Wodonga.

The trees were planted across 3 sites – the Kiewa River Trail Extension Track, Pebble Beach at Mt Beauty and the meeting point of the West Kiewa River and Simmonds Creek. The plantings we are undertaking along the West Kiewa River are designed to create a corridor for native bird life. There are many blue wrens, fantails, yellow and red breasted robins, Pardalotes, magpies, kookaburras, ducks & cormorants.
The trees were planted by Landcare members, along with staff and students from Tawonga Primary School and Mt Beauty Primary School and Secondary College. The total attendance across the 3 sites was 115.

Trees planted were all local species included Eucalypts (gums), Kunzea, Acacias (Wattles), Leptospermum (Ti Trees), Callistemons, Sedges and Poa (Grasses). The Upper Kiewa Valley is a unique area incorporating low land, foot hills and alpine plants. In fact, there are over 300 species represented. Many of them grow in the alpine areas. The Upper Kiewa Valley Native Plant Arboretum is being developed to showcase some of the local flora.
The Upper Kiewa Landcare and Kiewa Catchment Landcare Groups greatly appreciate the commitment of Wodonga G.J. Gardner Homes has made to our environment over many years. They really have made a difference.

Next year will mark our 10,000th tree for the Wodonga office. This milestone is within reach due to their continued generous support and their desire to contribute to the local community to revegetate and protect the local landscape.
