Connected to nature.

Connected Play is a network and connected games service with a focus on automation & innovation. It’s also got a focus on environmental responsibility and this year pitched in to plant 100 trees in the Upper Goulburn Shire through us.

In 2019 Luis Van Slageren started his business Connected Play built around his deep love for the online game development world.

Luis is a sole trader, and his company is called Connected Play because he likes helping game development studios connect their players to share games and fun times with each other.

“Part of this goal includes making sure that connecting people with each other is also kind to the planet, so that we all have a future where we can still share the good times with each other.

I am grateful to Fifteen Trees for helping me work towards this goal by turning a portion of Connected Play’s profits into trees.

The climate impact of data centres is something that can go under the radar, we don’t think about the power required to run and cool the servers when we chat to our friends on Facebook, or send an email to a colleague or play games online.

It’s really important to me that my industry is sustainable and which to me means preferring data centres that utilise renewable energy where possible and offsetting more emissions that are unavoidable, like the emissions created when manufacturing and shipping computers / hardware.”

Replenishing our diminishing green spaces is vital, as is rewilding nature.

Bev and Dale Dick recently finished planting the 100 native trees and shrubs that were kindly provided by Fifteen Trees and Landcare. We think the very best part of this story is that they relayed to us an exciting discovery on their farm of an endangered juvenile Striped-legless Lizard.

“I am very appreciative of the support we received to put these habitat plants in on what were otherwise bare hills.  The Red Box trees will link up with the remnant stands nearby and the shrubs will provide food and shelter for little birds, for the insect pollinators and the micro bats that I see aplenty at dusk. It feels the best use of my muscle power to be re-wilding my patch”.

Bev Dick said enthusiastically.

Individuals have big impact!

It is easy to ignore, or simply be unaware, of the impact our omnipresent computers play on the planet. And sometimes as a sole trader you might feel like your contribution is minimal – but believe us, it is not. Each of us can make a difference when it comes to our energy management, and our impact on an individual level. Thank you Luis, you truly are a concerned Earth citizen and show great care with your choices.

If you are also interested in how your business and Fifteen Trees could work together, contact us at <[email protected]> and ask for a no obligation proposal or check out our COMPANY page for more info.
