Over 1000 trees for Bendigo thanks to GJG.

TREES PLANTED

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013 and has now helped plant over 44,000 trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year alone the project will see over 11, 000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups. Danny Breen and Kris Gill from G. J. Gardner Homes Bendigo are generous supporters of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, the Bendigo team purchased 1080 trees for Nicole Howie and the Northern Bendigo Landcare Group. The trees were planted across 2 sites and 2 dates.

The first was Mothers’ Day as part of the Trees for Mum Program. The second event was held on National Tree Day, Sunday 29th July at the Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve.
Dear Colleen and GJG, Thank you for your support of 2 tree planting programs this year – Mothers’ Day and National Tree Day. We had a great turn out on both days. Our Mothers’ Day event had 32 adults and 11 children as well as the team from G.J. Gardner. Some family groups consisted on brand-new mums planting trees with their bubs for the first time. Other family groups consisted of mums with their teenage or adult children and some groups came along to plant trees in honour of mums that are no longer with us. Everyone who came along on Mothers’ Day said they were very grateful for the opportunity to do something so lovely together. We held another incredibly successful National Tree Day event at the Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve, Huntly, on Sunday July 29th and were overwhelmed with 70 participants, lots of them young families. In just over two hours, all 600 of the plants were in, guarded and watered. There was a great vibe on the day with lots of people commenting on how good it felt to get to know the Bendigo Creek in a new light and contribute directly to increasing the width of the riparian corridor. The weather held off for us and we were graced with overhead visits of soaring Wedge-Tailed Eagles, Glossy Ibis and Pelicans ! Nicole Howie | Secretary | Northern Bendigo Landcare Group
Massive thank you to Danny, Kris and the G.J. Gardner team at Bendigo. Both community events would not have been possible without your generous support. Sláinte – Colleen
