Trees for Bob’s Park (Vic).

TREES PLANTED

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013 and has helped plant 1000’s of trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year, the project will see over 8,500 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups. GJGLogo_NO-TAG_WHITE_BG_lrg Luke O’Connor and Andrew Timms from G. J. Gardner Homes Melbourne South East, located in Dandenong, are generous supporters of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, Luke and Andrew have purchased 210 trees for the Southern Dandenongs Landcare Group (SDLG).   bobs-park
We had a small but successful planting at Bobs Park, Menzies Creek on Saturday, 29th October, 2016.  One family of 6 and 3 other volunteers planted the 210 plants kindly provided by G J Gardner Homes. I had prepared the site the previous week by hand-weeding under the trees.  Planting was easy in the deep, damp soil. We under-planted seven mature eucalypts and delineated the planting areas with logs.  We had a good, soaking rain on the evening of the planting and have had two more rain events since.  I have since visited the site and the plants are thriving. We are grateful for the planting opportunity G J Gardner Homes provided because there has been heavy tree loss in the park and we are wanting to protect the remaining mature eucalypts, our major asset.
